Lionel Leighton, a friend of mine in the United Kingdom, writes that The Ted Heath Orchestra "remained active under the leadership of Don Lusher until the Farewell Concert at the Royal Festival Hall, London on December 4th , 2000.

"It was in the summer of 1999 that Mrs. Moira Heath (Ted Heath's widow) decided to end the long run of 55 years during which the band had given tremendous enjoyment throughout that time. Unfortunately, Moira passed away in January 2000 at the age of 89 and daughter Val along with other supporters made sure the concert still went ahead as planned."""

Many of the members of the band at the Farewell Concert were original members, such as Jackie Armstrong, Jack Parnell, Duncan Campbell, Ronnie Hughes, Roy Willox, Tommy Whittle, Don Lusher and singer Denis Lotis.
